The Faculty of Health Sciences consists of five departments and offers study programmes on all levels, including PhD. The faculty has about 6000 students and nearly 600 members of staff.

Department of Behavioural Sciences har approximately 750 students and 60 employees. The department is represented at all three campus; Kjeller, Pilestredet and Sandvika.

The Department of Behavioral Sciences at the Oslo Metropolitan University (OsloMet) employs around 50 faculty members and has 1,200 students. The Department Behavioral Sciences offers educational opportunities both at Campus Pilestredet and Campus Kjeller in the Oslo metropolitan region of Norway.

There is currently a vacancy for a full-time permanent position as an Associate Professor in Behavior Analysis at the Department of Behavioral Sciences. The position is based at the Section for Behavioral Science and Psychology, which offers a Master in Behavioral Science and a Bachelor in Psychology with an Emphasis on Behavior Analysis, as well as a PhD in Behavior Analysis and a selection of continuing education programmes.

In addition, the Department of Behavioral Sciences offers a bachelor’s degree in Social Education. The department has several active research groups and is one of the leading institutions for research and education in the field of behavior analysis in Europe.

Main Duties and Areas of Responsibility

The position involves teaching and supervision at the master- and bachelor level. At start-up, teaching responsibilities will involve organizing lectures in applied behavior analysis, including in Organizational Behavior Management (OBM). The person holding the advertised position is also expected to:

  • supervise students doing internships or practicums in applied behavior analysis
  • conduct independent research and engage in professional development
  • disseminate scientific results both to academic communities and to society in general
  • develop and/or take part in research projects suitable for the application of external funding
  • participate in research collaborations and with national and international partners

Qualification Requirements

  • Ph.D. in behavior analysis or other relevant Ph.D.
  • documented work-experience in the field of applied behavior analysis, either in a practical settings and/or in research
  • experience with teaching and supervision at a university level
  • scientific publications in the field of applied behavior analysis
  • good oral and written presentation skills in English and Norwegian. Applicants who do not have adequate proficiency in a Scandinavian language upon appointment must acquire Norwegian skills corresponding to at least level B2 within three years of appointment.

General criteria for appointment to teaching and research positions are set out in the Regulations concerning appointment and promotion to teaching and research posts

Applicants must document basic competence in teaching and supervision at university and university college level. Applicants who are unable to document basic university teaching qualifications upon appointment must achieve such qualifications within two years. OsloMet offers a programme in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (UHPED) that meets this requirement.

In the Assessment and Ranking of Qualified Applicants, Emphasis Will Be Placed on:

  • research and development work relevant to the position. Peer-reviewed scientific articles published in international journals during the last six years will be given particular weight in this assessment
  • extensive knowledge about and/or broad experience with practicing applied behavior analysis, for example in such fields as early intervention for children with autism, OBM, school-based interventions, contingency management, and more

  • the ability to work independently with research -and teaching responsibilities
  • the ability to cooperate with colleagues and the other relevant members of the scientific community
  • the ability to engage and communicate effectively with an audience on topics related to research and science
  • personal suitability will be emphasised

The salary for the position is in accordance with the Basic Collective Agreement for state employees and OsloMet’s pay policy for position code 1011, førsteamanuensis, pay grade 60–74, NOK 543,500 – 702,100 per year. A higher salary may be considered for particularly well-qualified applicants.
