The Faculty of Health Sciences consists of five departments and offers study programmes on all levels, including PhD. The faculty has about 6000 students and nearly 600 members of staff.

Department of Nursing and Health Promotion is located at all three campus: Kjeller, Pilestredet and Sandvika. The department has approximately 3000 students and 250 employees.

OsloMet is working to develop one of Norway’s best nursing education programmes and a leading expert environment in the field of nursing. There is a vacancy for a permanent full-time position as an associate professor (førsteamanuensis/førstelektor) in paediatric nursing at the Department of Nursing and Health Promotion at the Faculty of Health Sciences. The position is vacant now and is affiliated to the master’s degree and further education programmes in paediatric nursing. Duties in other areas of the programmes must be expected.

We are looking for someone who is ambitious on their students’ behalf, who enjoys teaching, supervision and research, and who is prepared to use various digital learning resources.

Extensive research activity is conducted at the department, which has seven research groups, and we regularly hire research fellows. As an associate professor, 35% of your position will be dedicated research time.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • teaching and supervising at further education, master’s and PhD levels and following up paediatric nursing students in practical training
  • actively contributing to the development of high-quality education
  • carrying out own research and development work in paediatric nursing
  • disseminating research both to academic communities and to society in general
  • participating in the development of major research projects and applications for external funding together with colleagues in the academic community
  • participating in research collaborations with national and international partners
  • contact with the professional field
  • contributing to the work of further developing the academic community and the department’s study programmes
  • performing academic-administrative tasks
  • actively contributing to the development of the department and OsloMet as a whole

Qualification requirements

  • relevant higher education at associate professor/professor Level
  • relevant clinical experience in paediatric nursing
  • good oral and written presentation skills in a Scandinavian language and English
  • good digital skills

Persons appointed to a førsteamanuensis position must hold a PhD or equivalent.

Persons appointed to a førstelektor position must have a pre-1990 university degree approximately equivalent to a master's degree ('embetseksamen'), a degree at second degree level under the pre-2003 system (‘hovedfag’) or a master’s degree, as well as documented extensive research and development work that in quality and scope corresponds to the workload and level of a doctoral thesis.

The applicant must be able to document relevant teaching qualifications. Applicants who are unable to document basic teaching qualifications upon appointment must achieve such qualifications within two years. OsloMet offers a programme in university pedagogy (UHPED) that meets this requirement.

General criteria for appointments to academic posts are found in the Regulations for appointment and promotion to academic posts.

If no applicants who are qualified for appointment as an associate professor apply, an applicant may be appointed to a temporary position as an assistant professor (universitetslektor) on the condition that he/she qualifies for a permanent position within three years, cf. the Act relating to Universities and University Colleges Section 6-5(1).

The salary for the position is in accordance with the Basic Collective Agreement for state employees and OsloMet’s pay policy for position code 1011 førsteamanuensis/1198 førstelektor, pay grade 60–74, i.e. NOK 532,300–691,400 per year/1009 universitetslektor, pay grade 51–66, i.e. NOK 456,400–594,400 per year. A higher salary may be considered for particularly well-qualified applicants.
