Faculty of Social Sciences offers study programmes within archivistics, library and information science, journalism and media studies, social work, social policy and child welfare, public management and business.
The faculty has about 4200 students and nearly 280 members of staff.
The department has approximately 1250 students and 90 employees, and offers study programmes on bachelor’s, master’s and PhD level.
The Department of Social Work, Child Welfare and Social Policy offers a 3-year PhD fellowship position within the topic of international social work related to refugees and / or asylum seekers. The position is located in the doctoral program in social work and social policy.
The PhD project has to be be designed within the field of "international social work". The target group for the project should be refugees and/or asylum seekers who establish themselves in unfamiliar and perhaps challenging contexts, and are in need of psychosocial assistance and intervention from social workers. Furthermore, the project should have an emphasis on the social workers' contribution, role, knowledge, working methods and approaches in international social work.

The project proposal will be heavily weighted in the assessment of the applicants. The proposal must indicate that the project will realistically lead to a doctoral degree within the three-year period. The project’s relevance to the doctoral programme in social work and social policy will also be emphasized. The project proposal should be written in English or Norwegian.
