Oslo Metropolitan University is Norway's third largest university with almost 22,000 students and over 2,500 employees. We have campuses in central Oslo and at Romerike. OsloMet educates students and conducts research that contributes to the sustainability of the Norwegian welfare state and the metropolitan region.

The Faculty of Health Sciences consists of five departments and offers study programmes on all levels, including PhD. The faculty has about 6000 students and nearly 600 members of staff.

There is a vacant part-time position (50 per cent of full-time) in the radiographer programme at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Life Sciences and Health, as professor of medical physics – CT, with a focus on imaging quality and dose optimisation.

The radiographer programme at OsloMet – Oslo Metropolitan University is the country’s largest radiography programme and has approx. 20 employees. Extensive research and development work takes place in connection with the programme, and we are one of the programmes that is furthest ahead with respect to digitalisation. We use student-active learning methods in all subjects, and we have developed several digital textbooks.

The radiographer programme emphasises innovation, both when it comes to education and the radiography discipline itself. We have a number of external cooperation partners both nationally and internationally. Our students are encouraged to take a semester or practical training period abroad, and we also welcome foreign students for short and long stays.

The radiographer programme at OsloMet has three modern laboratories – conventional radiography with both stationary and mobile apparatus, ConeBeam-CT and a small clinical ward.

The skills training facilities are well equipped to conduct realistic simulations.

We are looking for a professor with extensive experience of clinical diagnostic imaging. Interdisciplinary cooperation will be emphasised. Candidates should take a great interest in and wish to further develop the radiography discipline.

Tasks and responsibility:

  • teaching and supervision at bachelor's and master’s degree level
  • developing digital textbooks in line with the programme’s digitalisation strategy
  • cooperating with the radiography discipline’s field of practice and research community
  • contributing to further developing the academic environment and the department’s study programmes through innovation and cooperation with external partners
  • carrying out own research and development work
  • actively contributing to a high quality education
  • disseminating research both to the academic community and to society in general
  • participating in the development of major research projects and applications for external funding together with colleagues in the academic community
  • carrying out academic-administrative tasks
  • being a driving force in the development of major research projects and applications for external funding together with colleagues in the academic community
  • initiating and further developing research collaborations with national and international partners

Qualification requirements:

  • professor of medical physics – CT, with a focus on imaging quality and dose optimisation
  • experience of research networks and managing projects involving external funding
  • experience of leading research groups
  • experience of innovation and dissemination of research
  • experience of teaching and supervision at university/university college level
  • The applicant must be able to document relevant teaching qualifications. Applicants who are unable to document basic teaching qualifications upon appointment, must achieve such qualifications within two years. OsloMet offers a programme in university pedagogy (UHPED) that meets this requirement
  • Good oral and written presentation skills in English are required. Applicants who do not have adequate proficiency in a Scandinavian language upon appointment, must acquire Norwegian skills corresponding to at least level B2

The salary for the position is in accordance with the pay scale for state employees, position code 1013, professor. The salary for the position is NOK 704,900–906,000 per year at pay grade 75–84. A higher salary may be considered for particularly well-qualified applicants.
