The Faculty of Education and International Studies (LUI) has approximately 550 employees and 7000 students and is located in Oslo and Akershus. The Faculty is comprised of four departments as well as the National Centre of Multicultural Education (NAFO). The Faculty educates tomorrow’s teachers from kindergarten through upper secondary school, in close cooperation with the field of practical training. The Faculty offers a PhD in Education. In addition, the Faculty offers development studies and studies in sign language and interpreting. Diversity is a core value for the Faculty and its activities. The Faculty’s research and development focuses on practical training and is both profession-oriented and internationally oriented.

The Department of Primary and Secondary Teacher Education (GFU) has strong research communities within the field of school subjects, educational science, and digital competence, and educates teachers for the Norwegian school system in close cooperation with the field of practical training. The Department offers studies on bachelor and master level, and contributes to the general development of skills for school employees through continuing and further education.

The Department of Primary and Secondary Teacher Education has two temporary vacancies for a position as Associate Professor (førsteamanuensis/førstelektor)/Assistant Professor (universitetslektor) in ICT, technology enhanced learning or equivalent. Employment period: 01.10.19 – 31.07.20.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Teaching and supervision at Bachelor's, Master’s and PhD level and continuing and further education programmes
• Follow-up of students in practical training
• Contact with the professional field
• Contributing to the continued development of the academic community and the department’s study programmes
• Academic-administrative tasks
• Active contribution to the development of high-quality education
• Active contribution to the development of the department and OsloMet

Qualification requirements:

Persons appointed to a position as førsteamanuensis (Associate Professor) must have a doctorate degree in pedagogy with a focus on ICT, technology enhanced learning or equivalent.

Persons appointed to a position as førstelektor (Associate Professor) must have a university degree equivalent to a master's degree in pedagogy with a focus on ICT, technology enhanced learning or equivalent, and documented extensive research and development work that in quality and scope corresponds to the workload and level of a doctorate degree.

Persons appointed to a position as universitetslektor (Assistant Professor) must have a university degree equivalent to a master's degree in pedagogy with a focus on ICT, technology enhanced learning or equivalent.

The applicant must be able to document relevant educational theory and practice. Proficiency in oral and written Norwegian or any other Scandinavian language and English is required.

General criteria for appointments to academic positions are listed in the Regulations for appointment and promotion to academic posts.

In the assessment and ranking of qualified applicants, emphasis will be placed on:

• Knowledge and experience of online teaching, coding and programming for school and teaching in, about and through digital tools in primary and/or secondary education, higher education and/or higher education
• Digital proficiency
• Teaching and supervision experience from different degree levels
• Research and development work relevant to the position.
• Experience from research networks and externally funded projects
• Potential for project acquisition
• Teaching skills
• Capability in communicating and cooperating with students and colleagues

The positions is in accordance with the pay scale for state employees: The annual salary for Associate Professor (førsteamanuensis position code 1011/førstelektor position code 1198) is from NOK 524 200,- to NOK 682 200,- a year, and for Assistant Professor (universitetslektor position code 1009) from NOK 449 400,- to 586 500,- per year. A higher salary may be considered for particularly well-qualified applicants.
