The Faculty of Health Sciences consists of five departments and offers study programmes on all levels, including PhD. The faculty has about 6000 students and nearly 600 members of staff.

Department of Nursing and Health Promotion is located at all three campus: Kjeller, Pilestredet and Sandvika. The department has approximately 3000 students and 250 employees.

The Faculty of Health Sciences, the Department of Nursing and Health Promotion has a vacancy for a professor to strengthen the ethical research community.

We are looking for persons with a doctorate and qualifications in important areas of knowledge in the field of clinical ethics. The position involves duties relating to the Master’s Programme in Nursing – Clinical Research and Professional Development.

You are expected to contribute to the faculty achieving its strategy of quality, robustness and relevance in its study programmes and research. Needs-based, practice-based research to improve the health of patients/users is an important strategic priority area.

The Faculty of Health Sciences has two PhD programmes, and extensive research activity is conducted by the department’s seven established research groups.

We are looking for an ambitious and motivated member of staff who will contribute to strengthening the academic and educational work at the faculty by engaging in research and development of the academic communities’ research and teaching competence.

The academic communities and the organisation perform exciting duties in the fields of education and organisation work. Teaching and supervision of students at all levels at two campuses must be expected, but the primary workplace will be Pilestredet campus.

If no applicants who are qualified for appointment as a professor apply, an applicant may be appointed to a temporary position on the condition that he/she qualifies for a permanent position within three years.

Duties of the position

  • applying for research funds, initiating and conducting high-quality research, publishing and disseminating research results
  • developing, planning, implementing and evaluating courses in the programme
  • planning and facilitating teaching using student-active learning methods at bachelor’s, master’s and PhD level
  • contributing to the development of the faculty’s and the department’s national and international academic activities

We are looking for candidates who have

  • qualifications for appointment as a professor in areas of knowledge that are important in clinical ethics.
  • experience of obtaining research funds, managing and implementing research projects
  • national and international experience of research and an extensive research network
  • the ability and willingness to engage in interdisciplinary cooperation and using different methodological and philosophy of science approaches
  • an interest in educational development involving digital and student-active learning methods
  • good communication skills and the ability to inspire and supervise candidates and colleagues
  • good cooperation skills, motivation and ambitions on other people's behalf
  • the ability and willingness to participate in change processes and restructuring

If you do not master Norwegian or another Scandinavian language, you must undertake to acquire such skills within three years.

Importance will be attached to documented teaching qualifications and experience. If you do not have relevant basic teaching qualifications, you must undertake to complete the university's basic teaching qualification programme (15 credits) within two years.

The university will test teaching qualifications in connection with interviews.

The salary for the position is in accordance with the pay scale for state employees, position code 1013 (professor), NOK 695,500–893,900. A higher salary may be considered for particularly well-qualified applicants.
