Oslo Business School invites applications for a temporary position as PhD scholar in Organization and Management, with a particular focus on digitalization and datafication in organizations. The PhD scholar position is affiliated with the PhD program at the Business School. The successful applicant is expected to complete a doctoral degree during the period of employment (3 years, full-time).
The position is affiliated with the Organization and Management group at Oslo Business School. The group’s research covers a wide range of topics, including arts management, leadership, organizational paradoxes, human resource management, professions, project management, and decision-making. To achieve this, the group employs a variety of research methods, including surveys, experiments, and qualitative and ethnographic methods. The research conducted within the group explicitly aims to contribute to both theory and practice.
This PhD position is designed to enable graduates to contribute to the advancement of research within organization and management, with a focus on the significance of digitalization and datafication for organizations. The topic of the dissertation should align with the research interests of the Organization and Management group. Relevant research contexts include creative, cultural, entertainment, media and similar industries.
The Organization and Management group is seeking candidates with a background relevant to the position, preferably from organization and management studies or related social science disciplines such as sociology, anthropology, information science, or business. Applicants should demonstrate a strong interest in researching digitalization and datafication, preferably through qualitative methodologies. They should possess excellent communication and analytical skills, intellectual curiosity, and a genuine interest in pursuing an academic career in both research and teaching.
The position is three years full-time but can be extended to four years if teaching assignments are included.
We are looking for candidates who meet the following requirements:
Experience in qualitative research, such as ethnographic methods, participation in research projects and academic publishing will be an advantage.
General criteria for employment as a Research Fellow are stipulated in these regulations: Regulations relating to the University and University College Act.
Admission to the doctoral program is a prerequisite. Admission to the doctoral program is based on a comprehensive assessment of the application, including the relevance and quality of the project description. A finalized project plan for the employment period is required completed and acknowledged within 3 months from the date of employment.

The salary for the position is in accordance with the pay scale for Norwegian state employees, job title and position code. State salary wage scale 1017 Research Fellow, NOK 550 800 per year.
