Oslo Metropolitan University is Norway's third largest university with almost 22,000 students and over 2,500 employees. We have campuses in central Oslo and at Romerike. The Faculty of Technology, Art and Design (TKD) offers higher education and research and development (R&D) activities within technical subjects, arts and design. The Faculty has approximately 4.000 students and 400 staff members and is situated at Pilestredet Campus in downtown Oslo and at Kjeller Campus in Viken.

The Department of Civil Engineering and Energy Technology has a vacancy for a professor/ associate professor in Digitalization in construction industry (BIM).  

Extensive research is conducted at the department, and several research groups have been established, participating in national and international research projects. We are looking for a candidate who are willing to take a key role in strengthening and developing the academic and research work at the department.

Main duties of the position

  • Teaching and supervision of students at bachelor, master and PhD levels
  • Development of courses within the professional field
  • Participate in R&D activities, including application for funding, research, publishing and dissemination of results
  • Strengthening the academic and research work in the field of digitalization of construction and construction process
  • Active contribution to the development of high quality education
  • Active contribution to the general development of the department
  • The candidate is also expected to be involved in the university’s research community in general.
  • Some administrative tasks should be expected

Qualifications:

  • PhD within digitalization in construction industry, including BIM, construction management, construction process and similar
  • Comprehensive and in depth knowledge of digital solutions used in construction industry, building process and interaction between parties in the process
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Norwegian construction industry, relevant laws and regulations
  • Documented research experience is required, with a publication record in international conferences/journals
  • Experience in applying for external research funding is expected
  • Experience of initiating and managing research projects as well as from international research collaboration
  • Experience in teaching and supervision at university college/university level
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English. When relevant, Norwegian language classes will be offered to comply with the requirements of the position.
  • Industrial experience from design and construction of buildings and structures is considered as an advantage.

General criteria for appointment of a position as Professor or Associate Professor are stipulated in Regulations relating to Appointment and Promotion to Teaching and Research Positions (Forskrift om ansettelse og opprykk i undervisnings- og forskerstillinger) § 1-2, see details in Norwegian

Candidates who have no relevant qualifications in pedagogy at the time of appointment must commit themselves to complete OsloMet’s programme for basic pedagogical competence (15 ECTS credits) within two years.

The university will test pedagogical skills in connection with a personal interview.

The salary for the position is in accordance with the pay for state employees: job code 1013 professor, NOK 695 500 – 893 900, job code 1011 associate professor 524 200 – 658 300.

A higher salary may be considered for particularly well-qualified applicants. Law deducts 2% of the salary to the State Pension Fund.
