Researcher in glycomics/glycobiology

OsloMet is part of a large EU Horizon Pathfinder Open project funded by the EIC, called Inhibitor-Mediated Programming of Glycoforms (IMProGlyco). The goal of this project is to optimize cellular glycosylation for use in the biotechnology and healthcare industries. OsloMet’s role in the project involves characterizing the glycosylation of cell lines and primary cell cultures. Professor Niclas Karlsson and his team lead this research at OsloMet.

We are currently seeking a researcher with a background in glycobiology for a temporary full-time position (100%) for a duration of 2 years. This position will be associated with the Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Natural Science and Health at OsloMet, as well as the Division of Pharmacy, with a start date of September 1, 2025.

We are looking for applicants with background in protein biochemistry, glycobiology, and/or biological mass spectrometry. Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development of a new strategy for the identification and reporting of protein glycosylation
• Collaborate with an international team of researchers from institutions in Leeds, Oslo, York, Vienna, and Dublin
• Develop protocols and utilize methods for mass spectrometric glycoprotein analysis
• Contribute to maintaining and operating OsloMet's mass spectrometry facility
• Be responsible for mass spectrometric assignment of glycoconjugates

Criteria

For Researcher II (1109):

• Ph.D. in biochemistry, pharmacy, medicine, or equivalent

For Researcher III (1108):

• Master's degree in biochemistry, pharmacy, medicine, or equivalent

For both positions, the following apply:

• Experience with protein biochemistry and working with cell cultures
• Experience with biological mass spectrometry and/or omics (proteomics, lipidomics, metabolomics, etc.)
• Strong oral and written communication skills in English

General criteria are set out in the Government Personnel Handbook (SPH) 5.7.2 §1-8.

The salary for this position follows the Main Collective Agreement for the state and OsloMet’s salary policy for Researcher II (code 1108) / Researcher III (code 1109) with a salary range of NOK 604,900 - 745,000 per year.
