Associate Professor in Energy & Environment in Buildings - Hiring in process/Finished, not possible to apply

OsloMet’s Department of Built Environment is a dynamic and growing team dedicated to driving innovation and excellence in engineering for the building industry. The department has a vacancy for a 100 % permanent position as Associate Professor in Engineering, focused on sustainable building services engineering (HVAC, healthy indoor climate, energy-efficiency, and building physics), preferably including knowledge of thermodynamics. We are in search of an individual with a solid academic background, substantial research expertise, and a dedication to teaching.

Your main duties and areas of responsibility will be to

• teach and supervise students at bachelor, master, and PhD-level within sustainable building services engineering (including HVAC, indoor environment & climate, energy efficiency, and building physics, with associated design methods)
• take the initiative to and further develop research collaborations with national and international partners
• strengthening the academic and research work in the field of energy and indoor environment in buildings and closely related fields
• spearheading the continual enhancement of educational quality and relevance in the field
• forging strong national and international partnerships, both academic and with industry
• actively contribute to the development if the department and OsloMet as an institution
• performing administrative tasks related to educational, research, and innovation activities

Qualifications requirements

• PhD in engineering in one of the following fields:

• building services engineering including HVAC
• indoor environment (indoor climate, or sanitation/health)
• building physics and energy-simulation of buildings

• documented research work and publications within the field of energy and indoor environment in buildings or close related fields
• experience in teaching and supervision in higher education
• written and oral proficiency in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language, and English

Applicants who do not have adequate proficiency in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language, shall be offered Norwegian courses, and must acquire Norwegian skills corresponding to at least level B2 within three years of appointment.

The applicant must document relevant educational competence in accordance with OsloMet’s Guidelines for the assessment of educational competence at OsloMet.

General criteria for appointments to academic positions are covered by the Regulations concerning appointment and promotion to teaching and research posts

Emphasis will be placed on

• knowledge of building services engineering profession’s practices and terminology in cold climates, and Scandinavia or Norway in particular
• research and development work relevant to the position
• documented experience in establishing research collaboration, participation in research networks, and development/acquisition of externally funded projects
• flexibility and the ability to adapt teaching and research to the needs of OsloMet and the department, including interdisciplinary collaboration

The salary for the position is in accordance with the Basic Collective Agreement for state employees and OsloMets pay policy for Associate Professor in code 1011, corresponding to NOK NOK 615 700- 745 000 per year. rom the salary, 2% will be deducted in pension contributions for the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund (SPK). A higher salary may be considered for particularly well-qualified applicants.

For applicants who cannot document competencies within teaching in higher education have to develop this within two years from accession. OsloMet offers courses in teaching and learning in higher education which covers this requirement.
