Oslo Business School has a vacancy for a temporary position as PhD scholar in Work and Organizational Psychology. The position as PhD scholar is connected to the PhD program at the business school. Offices are located in central Oslo.

The organization and management group—part of Oslo Business School—invites applications for the PhD position within Work and Organisational Psychology. The scholarship holder is expected to complete a doctoral degree within the period of employment (years, 3 full-time).

Research within the group focuses on a broad variety of topics amongst them leadership, human resource management, work motivation, personality, occupational well-being, (virtual) teams and their processes, work climates, and performance. To this end, the group uses a variety of research methods, ranging from lab and field experiments to surveys and experience-sampling methods. The research has the explicit aim of contributing to theory and practice and we collaborate with both public and private sector organizations in order to research and promote healthy and productive workplaces.

About the position

This doctoral position is designed to help graduates to contribute to the advancement of research and practice within work and organizational psychology. The topic of the dissertation should be relevant to the organization and management group, specifically spanning the fields of leadership, human resource management, work motivation, personality, occupational well-being, (virtual) teams and their processes, and/or performance, as well as other topics within work and organizational psychology.

The organization and management group seeks candidates with a strong background in disciplines that are relevant to the subfields described above, who are intellectually curious, interested in an academic career in research and teaching, and who possess strong communication and analytical skills.

The position is three years full time but can be extended to four years if teaching assignments are included.

Qualification requirements

We are looking for candidates who meet the following requirements:

• Excellent MSc, cand.psychol. or similar degree in Psychology (or in related fields). We welcome applications from candidates close to finishing the degree .
• Strong interest in research on work and organizational psychology
• Hands-on mentality and the ability to work independently
• Excellent communication skills in English, both verbally and in written form; a good command of a Scandinavian language is an advantage

In addition, experience from research projects and publishing in academic journals will be an advantage. Experience with quantitative and/or qualitative research is an advantage.

Admission to a relevant doctoral programme is a prerequisite. Applicants must have a B or better on the master's thesis and an average grade B or better on the master's degree. In special cases, applicants with a grade of C may be considered for admission. In such cases, particularly relevant experience related to one's own research project and / or scientific publications may contribute to strengthening the application.

Admission to the doctoral programme is based on a comprehensive assessment of the application, including the relevance and quality of the project description. Final project plan for the fellowship period is required completed and acknowledged within 3 months after accession

• cover letter including a full statement of motivation and a short description of a proposed topic for the PhD-dissertation. The description of a proposed topic should be no more than one page.
• CV including a summary of master’s thesis and previous scholarly work including conference presentations
• certificates/diplomas for bachelor’s and master’s degrees. The certificates/diplomas must include ECTS grades (A–F). Foreign diplomas must be translated into English by the degree-conferring institution. Education taken abroad should preferably be recognised in advance by NOKUT, and a confirmed copy of the letter of recognition should be enclosed.
• copies of master’s thesis and published works

The salary for the position is in accordance with the pay scale for Norwegian state employees, job title and position code. State salary wage scale 54, 491 200 NOK per year.
