The Faculty of Health Sciences consists of five departments and offers study programmes on all levels, including PhD. The faculty has about 6000 students and nearly 600 members of staff.

Department of Nursing and Health Promotion is located at all three campus: Kjeller, Pilestredet and Sandvika. The department has approximately 3000 students and 250 employees.

OsloMet is working to develop one of Norway’s best nursing education programmes and a leading expert environment in the field of nursing. A permanent position as an associate professor (førsteamanuensis/førstelektor) of a full-time position is available at the Department of Nursing and Health Promotion in the field of intensive care nursing. The position will primarily be affiliated to the master’s degree programme and advanced programme in intensive care nursing/master’s in advanced Practice Nursing to Critically Ill Patients. Duties in other areas of the programme may also be relevant.

We are looking for someone who is ambitious on their students’ behalf, who enjoys teaching, supervision and research, and who is prepared to use various digital learning resources.

Extensive research activity is conducted at the department, which has eight research groups, and we regularly hire research fellows. As an associate professor, 35% of the position will be dedicated research time.

Your tasks and responsibilities will be to

  • teach and supervise at advanced, master’s degree level and PhD level and follow up intensive care nursing students in practical training
  • contribute to the development of high quality in education
  • collaborate with the professional field
  • carry out own research and development work in intensive care nursing
  • disseminate research both to academic communities and to society in general
  • participate in the development of major research projects and applications for external funding together with colleagues in the academic community
  • participate in research collaborations with national and/or international partners
  • contribute to the work of further developing the academic community and the department’s study programmes

Qualification requirements

We are looking for candidates who have

  • a PhD, or competence equivalent to senior lecturer (førstelektor), in a field of relevance to intensive care nursing
  • completed an advanced programme in intensive care nursing
  • recent clinical experience from intensive care nursing
  • experience of teaching and/or supervision at university/university college level
  • good oral and written presentation skills in a Scandinavian language and English
  • good digital skills

General criteria for appointment to teaching and research positions are set out in the Regulations concerning appointment and promotion to teaching and research posts.

Persons appointed to Senior Lecturer (førstelektor) must have a university degree equivalent to a master's degree, and documented extensive research and development work that in quality and scope corresponds to the workload and level of a doctorate degree.

Applicants must document basic competence in teaching and supervision at university and university college level. Applicants who are unable to document basic university teaching qualifications upon appointment must achieve such qualifications within two years. OsloMet offers a programme in university pedagogy (UHPED) that meets this requirement. The position is remunerated in accordance with the Basic Collective Agreement for the Civil Service and OsloMets salary policy, code 1011, Associate professor (førsteamanuensis/1198 førstelektor). The salary is NOK 543,500–702,100 per year, salary scale 60 - 74. A higher salary may be considered for particularly well qualified applicants.
