The Faculty of Technology, Art and Design (TKD) offers higher education and research and development (R&D) activities within technical subjects, arts and design. The Faculty has approximately 4.000 students and 400 staff members and is situated at Pilestredet Campus in downtown Oslo and at Kjeller Campus in Viken.

The Department of Built Environment offers bachelors and master’s degree programs in engineering, in addition to research and development activities. The department has approximately 60 staff members and 850 students.

OsloMet seeks a talented and ambitious researcher to join an exciting interdisciplinary research project funded by EEA and Norway Grants.

The Department Civil Engineering and Energy Technology has a vacancy for a Post-doctoral Researcher in ‘Building Physics and Digital Twins in the Built Environment’. The position will have a duration of 2 years and will be connected to an international research project, which aim to the development of a less polluting automated facade system integrated into building management systems. The main objectives of the work in the context of this post-doctoral position are:

  • the analysis and correlation of sensor data related to the monitoring of critical parameters of the façade system
  • a feasibility study of the data collected from the sensors and
  • the development and description of the Digital Twin concept.

Your duties and responsibilities will be to

  • play a central part in research and dissemination of research results both to academic environments and society in general
  • initiate and carry out your own research and development work
  • academic-administrative tasks
  • take the initiative and further develop research collaboration with national and international partners
  • play a central role in the work of further developing the academic environment at the Department
  • actively contribute to the development of the department and OsloMet as a whole

Qualification requirements

  • PhD degree in Building Physics or Building Technology
  • competence in programming
  • experience with national and international research networks
  • experience in managing projects with external funding
  • good oral and written presentation skills in English are required
  •  

General criteria for appointments to academic positions are covered by the Regulations for appointment and promotion to academic posts.

  • Extensive research and development work that is relevant to the position
  • Competence in Digital Twins and/or IoT systems in the Built Environment
  • Experience from façade systems

Practical information about relocation to Oslo and living in Norway

The position is remunerated in accordance with the Basic Collective Agreement for the Civil Service and OsloMets salary policy, job code 1352 Postdoctoral Research Fellow. The salary is NOK 543 500-702 100 per year, salary scale 60 -74. A higher salary may be considered for particularly well qualified applicants.
