Oslo Metropolitan University is Norway's third largest university with almost 22,000 students and over 2,500 employees. We have campuses in central Oslo and at Romerike. OsloMet educates students and conducts research that contributes to the sustainability of the Norwegian welfare state and the metropolitan region.

The Faculty of Health Sciences consists of five departments and offers study programmes on all levels, including PhD. The faculty has about 6000 students and nearly 600 members of staff.

Department of Nursing and Health Promotion is located at all three campus: Kjeller, Pilestredet and Sandvika. The department has approximately 3000 students and 250 employees.

There is a vacancy for an assistant professor (universitetslektor) in 100% of a full-time position at the Department of Nursing and Health Promotion at the Faculty of Health Sciences, affiliated to the specialisation in Cancer Nursing in the master’s degree programme in Health Science. The position is primarily a full-time position, but 80% of a full-time position may be considered in combination with another relevant clinical position, primarily in cancer care. The person appointed should preferably take up the position as soon as possible. 

The educational programme in cancer nursing is in an interesting phase of development, where this specialisation forms part of a master’s degree programme. This is a rapidly developing field and we are looking for applicants with strong engagement and expertise in cancer nursing. The person appointed will have the opportunity to develop the field alongside their capable colleagues. 
 
Extensive research activity is conducted at the department, which has nine established research groups. The Faculty of Health Sciences has two PhD programmes, one in behavioural analysis and one in health sciences.  

Tasks and responsibilities

  • teach and supervise students
  • contribute to good collaboration with the field of practice 
  • actively contribute to the development of high-quality education
  • contribute to developing new forms of assessment and perform student assessments 
  • perform academic and administrative tasks
  • contribute to development and research work at the department, with a particular focus on issues of relevance to cancer nursing

The successful applicant may also be asked to teach other programmes at the department.  

Qualification requirements 

  • master’s degree in a relevant field
  • Norwegian authorisation as a general nurse
  • further education in cancer nursing 
  • clinical experience as a cancer nurse/ Nursing professional Development Specialist during the past five years 
  • experience of using digital teaching tools
  • good written and oral presentation skills in one of the Scandinavian languages and English

The applicant must be able to document relevant teaching qualifications. Applicants who are unable to document basic teaching qualifications upon appointment must achieve such qualifications within two years. OsloMet offers a programme in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (UHPED) that meets this requirement.

The following would be an advantage

The salary for the position is in accordance with the Basic Collective Agreement for state employees and OsloMet’s pay policy for position code 1009, universitetslektor, pay grade 51–66, i.e. NOK 468,300–604,700 per year. A higher salary may be considered for particularly well-qualified applicants.
