Faculty of Health Sciences , Department of Occupational Therapy, Prosthetics and Orthotics

Oslo Metropolitan University is Norway's third largest university with almost 22,000 students and over 2,500 employees. We have campuses in central Oslo and at Romerike. OsloMet educates students and conducts research that contributes to the sustainability of the Norwegian welfare state and the metropolitan region.

The Faculty of Health Sciences consists of five departments and offers study programmes on all levels, including PhD. The faculty has about 6000 students and nearly 600 members of staff.

The Department of Occupational Therapy, Prosthetics and Orthotics at the Faculty of Health Sciences has a vacancy for a part-time position (50 per cent of full-time) as an associate professor in clinical orthopaedic biomechanics from 1 August 2021. Appointment in a lower percentage of a full-time position is also possible in combination with a relevant clinical role.

The advertised position will primarily be affiliated to the field of prosthetics and orthotics and involve research, teaching, supervision and assessment in clinical orthopaedic biomechanics. The person appointed is expected to teach anatomy and pathology, and may also be expected to contribute to teaching in common subjects at both bachelor’s and master’s degree level.

The Prosthetics and Orthotics programme is a national study programme. As a result of the great demand for prosthetics and orthotics candidates, the programme has increased both the frequency of admissions and the number of students admitted over the past years. We are looking for someone with a strong desire to contribute to the development of the programme and to raise the quality of teaching, research and knowledge dissemination.

New programme descriptions have recently been developed for all the bachelor’s programmes at the Faculty of Health Science, and from 2021, we will start using the new programme description for the Bachelor’s Programme in Prosthetics and Orthotics. A master’s degree programme in Health Science that includes several different specialisations will also be offered from autumn 2021, and we are currently developing a master’s degree programme in Health and Technology.

As an associate professor, you will be part of an active and ambitious team with interdisciplinary competence and extensive teaching experience. We are currently working to apply mixed reality technology in our basic subjects, and are looking for applicants who are used to working with digital learning methods. We are constantly working to develop the discipline, and extensive research activity takes place in the department, including in the two research groups Clinical Interventions and Biomedical Engineering and Interventions in Work and Everyday Life.
