Faculty of Social Sciences offers study programmes within archivistics, library and information science, journalism and media studies, social work, social policy and child welfare, public management and business.

The faculty has about 4200 students and nearly 280 members of staff.

The Department of Journalism and Media Studies has approximately 450 students and 30 employees. Study programmes and research are closely connected and exhibit our international profile.

The Department of Journalism and Media Studies is looking for a candidate to fill vacancy for a permanent position as a university lecturer in photojournalism, from 1 August 2021. The position includes  the teaching and supervision of  undergraduate students in still image, image theory and video production. The person hired is responsible for keeping up to date on media technology developments and adapting teaching in accordance with those developments.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • teaching and supervision of students at bachelor level in the field of still image and image theory, with emphasis on video production for photojournalists
  • research and development work
  • development of new courses and teaching programs in collaboration with colleagues

Qualification requirements

  • for a position as a university lecturer, relevant professional education at the master's level and relevant research qualifications beyond master's degree, or relevant education at the master's level and / or relevant professional practice are required.
  • extensive and recent experience from photojournalistic practice with still images and video production, with emphasis on video production
  • extensive experience with the use of still images and video on various publishing platforms
  • good theoretical and practical insight into the field
  • good written and oral presentation skills in a Scandinavian language and / or English

Documented pedagogical education and experience are emphasized.

Applicants must document basic competence in teaching and supervision at the university or  college level. Applicants who, upon employment, are unable to document such university pedagogical basic competence, must acquire this competence during a two-year period. OsloMet offers a course in university pedagogy (UHPED) for this purpose.

The position is remunerated in accordance with the Basic Collective Agreement for the Civil Service in the state and OsloMet's salary policy in position code 1009 university lecture. The salary is NOK 458 900-597 000 per year, in salary steps 51-66.
