Oslo Metropolitan University is Norway's third largest university with almost 22,000 students and over 2,500 employees. We have campuses in central Oslo and at Romerike. OsloMet educates students and conducts research that contributes to the sustainability of the Norwegian welfare state and the metropolitan region.

The Faculty of Health Sciences consists of five departments and offers study programmes on all levels, including PhD. The faculty has about 6000 students and nearly 600 members of staff.

There is a vacancy for a research fellow in a fixed-term position in the field of social pharmacy at the Faculty of Health Sciences, the Department of Life Sciences and Health

Extensive research activity is conducted at the department, and several research groups have been established. The Faculty of Health Sciences has two PhD programmes, and this research fellowship is affiliated to the PhD programme in Health Sciences.

The research fellowship period is three years without a teaching obligation / required duties. A period of four years and 75% of a full-time position is a possibility if the position is split between the university and a health trust or pharmacy. This will be decided when the appointment is made.

Field of research

It is a well-known problem that many patients do not use pharmaceuticals correctly. This may lead to many pharmaceutical-related problems and great social costs. The overall objective of this research project is to contribute to increased medication adherence for a selected patient group and thereby to increased patient safety.

The position is part of research group Medicines and Patient Safety.

Measuring patients' medication adherence is both difficult and subject to uncertainty. There are some available instruments for measuring self-reported adherence, but in this research project we would like to develop a better and more nuanced instrument in the form of a questionnaire. Furthermore, we want to make an intervention in the form of an innovative patient-training programme, most likely through the development of an application. The questionnaire will be used to measure adherence in a selected patient group before and after carrying out the intervention.
