The field of paramedics is developing – would you like to contribute to developing the future of research and education?

Two permanent full-time positions as associate professor (førsteamanuensis/førstelektor) are available at the Department of Nursing and Health Promotion, the Faculty of Health Sciences, in the field of paramedic sciences. The position can be split up into one full-time position and two positions corresponding to 50% of a full-time position, or four positions corresponding to 50% of a full-time position. The paramedic programme at OsloMet is looking for two new enthusiastic colleagues who wish to contribute to the development of a new and exciting programme together with a proactive collegiate.

We are looking for someone who enjoys teamwork, teaching, supervision and research, and who is prepared to use various digital learning resources.

Extensive research activity is conducted at the department, which has seven research groups, and we regularly hire research fellows. As an associate professor, you will be granted time to conduct research and a unique opportunity to influence the paramedics research field.

If no applicants with associate professor qualifications apply, an applicant may be appointed to a temporary position as an assistant professor on the condition that he/she qualifies for a professor/associate professor position within three years. A qualification plan must be enclosed with the application.

Tasks and responsibilities:

• R&D activities, publishing and disseminating research results relevant to paramedic science
• developing, planning, implementing and evaluating courses in the programme
• grading and developing forms of assessment
• teaching and supervising students during clinical training and at the simulation and skills centre
• contributing to the work of further developing the academic community and the department’s study programmes
• participating in the development of major research projects and applications for external funding together with colleagues in the academic community
• participating in research collaborations with national and international partners
• performing academic-administrative tasks

Qualification requirements:

A relevant PhD in health science is required for the position of førsteamanuensis.

Persons appointed to the position of førstelektor must have a relevant health-related university degree approximately equivalent to a master's degree, a degree at second degree level under the pre-2003 system ('hovedfag') or a master's degree, as well as documented extensive research and development work that in quality and scope corresponds to the workload and level of a doctorate degree.

• relevant experience of clinical work (ambulance service, emergency medical communication centres (AMK), accident and emergency departments, municipal emergency medical services etc.)
• good digital skills

• The applicant must be able to document relevant teaching qualifications. Applicants who are unable to document basic teaching qualifications upon appointment must achieve such qualifications within two years. OsloMet offers a programme in university pedagogy (UHPED) that meets this requirement.
• Good oral and written presentation skills in English are required. Applicants who do not have adequate proficiency in a Scandinavian language upon appointment must acquire Norwegian skills corresponding to at least level B2 within three years of appointment.

General criteria for appointment to teaching and research positions are set out in the Regulations for appointment and promotion to academic posts.

The salary for the position is in accordance with the Basic Collective Agreement for state employees and OsloMet’s pay policy for the position code and title 1011 førsteamanuensis/1198 førstelektor, pay grade 60–74, i.e. NOK 532,300–691,400 per year. Alternatively, 1009 (universitetslektor), pay grade 51–66, NOK 456,400–594,400. A higher salary may be considered for particularly well-qualified applicants.
