Oslo Metropolitan University is Norway's third largest university with almost 22,000 students and over 2,500 employees. We have campuses in central Oslo and at Romerike. OsloMet educates students and conducts research that contributes to the sustainability of the Norwegian welfare state and the metropolitan region.

The Faculty of Technology, Art and Design (TKD) offers higher education and research and development (R&D) activities within technical subjects, arts and design. The Faculty has approximately 4.000 students and 400 staff members and is situated at Pilestredet Campus in downtown Oslo and at Kjeller Campus in Viken.

The Department of Built Environment offers bachelors and master’s degree programs in engineering, in addition to research and development activities. The department has approximately 60 staff members and 850 students.

The Department of Civil Engineering and Energy Technology is rapidly growing and seeks an Assistant Professor in traffic engineering. The position is temporary for 1 year, with a possible extension for up to 3 years. The position percentage is 40%, and if needed at the department the position percentage can be increased.

 

Tasks and responsibilities: 

  • Teaching and supervision at Bachelor`s level and on life-long study programmes
  • Contribute to developing the department’s educations
  • Collaboration with the industry within the field
  • Active contribution to the development of the department, and OsloMet in general
  • Perform academic administrative tasks

 

Qualification requirements: 

  • Master's degree in transport
  • Teaching experience at the university level in traffic engineering
  • The applicant must be able to apply knowledge in traffic engineering, traffic safety and traffic regulation (signs and road markings, including road signs) and use them in new disciplines that are being developed at the department in transport and mobility.
  • Proficiency in oral and written English and a Scandinavian language is required.

Practical information about relocation to Oslo and living in Norway 

The position is remunerated in accordance with the Basic Collective Agreement for the Civil Service and OsloMets salary policy as Assistant Professor 1009. The salary is NOK 456,400 - 594,400 per year. A higher salary may be considered for particularly well qualified applicants.
