Oslo Metropolitan University is Norway's third largest university with almost 22,000 students and over 2,500 employees. We have campuses in central Oslo and at Romerike. OsloMet educates students and conducts research that contributes to the sustainability of the Norwegian welfare state and the metropolitan region.

The Faculty of Health Sciences consists of five departments and offers study programmes on all levels, including PhD. The faculty has about 6000 students and nearly 600 members of staff.

Department of Nursing and Health Promotion is located at all three campus: Kjeller, Pilestredet and Sandvika. The department has approximately 3000 students and 250 employees.

Two permanent positions as associate professor (førsteamanuensis/førstelektor) are available at the Department of Nursing and Health Promotion, the Faculty of Health Sciences, in the field of midwifery. The positions are vacant from 1 February 2020.

The Department of Nursing and Health Promotion (SHA) has 3,000 students and 250 employees, who are currently divided between nine programme coordinator areas of responsibility. The position is currently affiliated to the Master's Programme in Midwifery, and teaching in and across subjects must be expected.

 

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • teaching and supervision primarily at master’s and PhD level and in continuing and further education
  • following up students in practical training
  • contact with the practical field
  • contributing to the work of further developing the academic community and the department’s study programmes
  • performing academic-administrative tasks
  • actively contributing to the development of high quality education
  • actively contributing to the development of high quality research
  • actively contributing to the development of the department and OsloMet as a whole
  • disseminating research both to the academic community and to society in general
  • participating in the development of major research projects and applications for external funding together with colleagues in the academic community

The department is currently going through a process of reorganisation, and organisational changes and changes to the work tasks may occur.


Qualification requirements

  • authorisation as midwife (approved in Norway)
  • clinical experience
  • research and development work of relevance to the position
  • teaching and supervision experience
  • good digital skills
  • good oral and written presentation skills in a Scandinavian language and English
  • relevant teaching qualifications and experience (documentation must be submitted)

A relevant PhD is required for the position of førsteamanuensis.

Persons appointed to the position of førstelektor must have a university degree approximately equivalent to a master's degree, and documented extensive research and development work that in quality and scope corresponds to the workload and level of a doctorate degree.

If no applicants who are qualified for appointment as an associate professor apply, an applicant may be appointed to a temporary position as assistant professor (universitetslektor) on the condition that he/she qualifies for a permanent position within three years. This applies primarily to applicants in the end phase of a PhD or to applicants who have started the process of qualifying as an associate professor. A qualification plan must be enclosed with the application.

Persons appointed to the position of assistant professor in midwifery must have a master’s degree (or equivalent) from a university, university college or equivalent within the relevant discipline.

Applicants who are unable to document basic teaching qualifications upon appointment, must achieve such qualifications within two years. OsloMet offers a programme in university pedagogy (UHPED) that meets this requirement.

The salary for the position is in accordance with the pay scale for state employees, position code 1011, associate professor (førsteamanuensis). The salary is NOK 532,300–691,400 per year. Pay grade 60–74. A higher salary may be considered for particularly well-qualified applicants.
