The Faculty of Health Sciences consists of five departments and offers study programmes on all levels, including PhD. The faculty has about 6000 students and nearly 600 members of staff.

The Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Life Sciences and Health (NVH) has a vacancy for a permanent position as an associate professor in pharmacy.

Applicants who are qualified for appointment as a professor are also encouraged to apply. The applicants’ qualifications for appointment as a professor will not be formally assessed, but it is possible to apply for promotion after being appointed.

We are looking for an ambitious and motivated colleague, who will contribute to strengthening our academic environment, research and focus on innovation at the department.

Extensive research takes place at the department, and the academic environment in the field of pharmacy has, among other things, established interdisciplinary research groups in Medicines and patient safety and Disease and environmental exposures with pertaining research fellows.

The academic environment has many interesting projects going forward relating to the education of pharmacists. We are now developing a new programme description in accordance with national guidelines, which forms the basis for greater cooperation with the other health science programmes. We have an increased focus on innovation, technology and digital competence. We also wish to build competence in pharmaceutical research and development, and to further develop the externally funded research activity at the department. The new employee will be part of these initiatives.

The person appointed must have the relevant knowledge to teach the various subjects within the field of pharmacy taught at OsloMet and must expect additional teaching work in other programmes at OsloMet.

Main duties of the position

  • teaching and developing digital learning resources
  • obtaining research funding, conducting research, publication, dissemination
  • developing networks for research and innovation
  • participating in the development of new study programmes
  • promoting contact with business and industry and international Cooperation

Qualifications

Applicants must have:

  • a doctorate degree in pharmacy
  • work experience in the field of pharmacy
  • the motivation to contribute to developing competitive research environments
  • an interest in educational development and student active teaching activities
  • good oral and written presentation skills in English

Applicants who do not have adequate proficiency in a Scandinavian language upon appointment must acquire Norwegian skills corresponding to at least level B2.

We will emphasise the following:

  • teaching and supervision experience at university level
  • participation in national and international networks in research, practical fields and/or education
  • experience of obtaining research funding or experience of innovation projects

Importance will be attached to documented teaching qualifications and experience. If you do not have relevant teaching qualifications, you must undertake to complete the university's basic teaching qualification programme (15 credits) within two years.

OsloMet has a clear focus on continuous quality development in its programmes.

The university will test teaching qualifications in connection with interviews.

General criteria for appointments to positions as associate professor are found in the Regulations for appointment and promotion to academic posts.

The salary for the position is in accordance with the pay scale for state employees, position code 1011, associate professor. The salary is NOK 532,300–691,400 per year. A higher salary may be considered for particularly well-qualified applicants.
