Results-oriented Research Director with a good implementation capacity
As a Research Director, you will be responsible for leading the Department of Research and Development’s staff and develop a future-oriented and well-functioning R&D administration. The Director of research and administration is to be a strategic driving force for research activity in the department and research centres, and will contribute to develop and coordinate work in these areas. The Director will motivate and ensure good cooperation internally, regionally, nationally and internationally. The director will, alongside the Vice Rector for R&D, encourage increased research efforts, innovation and creativity, and strengthen the university’s international research profile.
The Research Director will report to the Vice Rector for R&D
Duties:
- follow-up and implementation of projects and processes in the R&D area
- develop and implement strategies within the position's area of responsibility, including establishing good work processes and management tools
- coordinate work in the position's areas of responsibility between the joint administration and the faculties/centres, and facilitate good meeting places for administrative research staff
- ensure that researchers at the university have access to the necessary expertise in the development of applications for external funding, in particular in relation to the EU's Framework Programme
- follow-up of OsloMet’s reporting and documentation procedures in relation to central agencies in the R&D field
We are looking for a candidate who:
- has management experience from areas related to research administration in the university, university college sector and/or the research sector
- can document results from similar work
- has sound experience of personnel management, objectives and financial management
- is strategically oriented and able to quickly familiarise him/herself with complex tasks
- has relevant higher education, preferably at PhD level
- Proficiency in written and spoken Norwegian
- Proficiency in written and spoken English

Other information
The salary for the position, position code 1060, is pay grade 82–86 on the pay scale for state employees, currently NOK 860,300–963,200. A higher salary may be considered for particularly well qualified applicants.
