Oslo Metropolitan University is Norway's third largest university with almost 22,000 students and over 2,500 employees. We have campuses in central Oslo and at Romerike. The Faculty of Technology, Art and Design (TKD) offers higher education and research and development (R&D) activities within technical subjects, arts and design. The Faculty has approximately 4.000 students and 400 staff members and is situated at Pilestredet Campus in downtown Oslo and at Kjeller Campus in Viken.

The Department of Art, Design and Drama (EST) is developing rapidly and is facing exciting changes in the next few years. The department has approximately 900 students and 58 employees. We offer study programmes at bachelor's and master's level in design, arts and crafts, drama and theatre communication, art dissemination, and fashion and production.

In addition, we have a new PhD program: Innovation for sustainability, and number of further education programmes and practical pedagogical programmes in design, arts and crafts and drama and theatre communication. Most of the study programmes have an element of outreach practical training as an integral part. The department has four research groups and a high level of activity in external activities. This is affiliated with the department's unit for lifelong learning

The Faculty of Technology, Art and Design, the Department of Art, Design and Drama, is looking for a candidate for a permanent 60% position as a professor/associate professor. The position is vacant from August 1st 2019.

The Art Therapy programme is a part-time continuing education programme over two years. The programme is being developed with long-term ambition of approval as master’s degree programme. The programme covers both the understanding of creative expressions and the therapeutic processing of such expressions.

The person appointed will have main responsibility for the programme and its associated organisation.

The faculty has a strong focus on research and development. Extensive research activities are conducted at the Department of Art, Design and Drama and there are a number of active research groups. In addition to teaching and supervision, the candidate is expected to contribute actively to research and artistic development work at Oslo Metropolitan University.

Main duties of the position

  • developing and teaching student-active learning methods throughout the programme
  • facilitating and supervising practical training for students
  • preparing and grading exam papers
  • participating in research activities and/or artistic development work related to the department's academic activities
  • participating in international teacher exchange programmes and academic cooperation

 Required qualifications

  • professor /dosent professor /associate professor qualifications in art therapy
  • very good oral and written communication skills in English
  • document Norwegian skills at a level corresponding to at least level B2 within three years of being appointed
  • documented teaching qualifications will be emphasised
  • experience from academic-administrative work and use of digital tools are desirable

 If you do not have relevant teaching qualifications, you must undertake to complete the university's basic teaching qualification programme (15 credits) within two years.

 If the candidate does not have the required skills in Norwegian or a Scandinavian language, he/she will be offered training to be able to carry out the tasks involved in the position and/or field of work.

 OsloMet will test teaching qualifications in connection with interviews.

 The salary for the position is in accordance with the pay scale for state employees: 1013 professor/1532 dosent professor: NOK 686,900–882,900. 1011 associate professor (førsteamanuensis) /1198 associate professor (førstelektor): NOK 512,700–648,100. A higher salary may be considered for particularly well-qualified applicants.
