Oslo Metropolitan University is Norway's third largest university with almost 22,000 students and over 2,500 employees. We have campuses in central Oslo and at Romerike. OsloMet educates students and conducts research that contributes to the sustainability of the Norwegian welfare state and the metropolitan region.

The Faculty of Health Sciences consists of five departments and offers study programmes on all levels, including PhD. The faculty has about 6000 students and nearly 600 members of staff.

The Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Life Sciences and Health (NVH) is looking for a new employee to take up a permanent position as an associate professor in pharmacy. We are looking for an ambitious and motivated colleague, who will strengthen our academic environment and research at the department.

Extensive research activity is conducted at the department, and the pharmacy environment has, among other things, established inter-disciplinary research groups in Medicines and patient safety and Disease and environmental exposures with affiliated research fellows. We wish to further develop the externally funded research activity at the department, and the person appointed should be a part of these efforts. Applicants who are qualified for appointment as a professor are encouraged to apply. The applicants’ professor qualifications will not be formally assessed, but it is possible to apply for promotion after being appointed.  

Looking forward, the academic environment has many exciting tasks relating to the education of pharmacists. We are now developing a new programme description in accordance with national guidelines, which forms the basis for an increased cooperation with the other health science programmes.

Main duties of the position

  • teaching and supervision
  • course responsibility and contributing to the development of the programme description
  • obtaining research funding, conducting research, publication, dissemination
  • creating prolific research networks and promote international cooperation
  • developing digital learning resources

The bulk of the teaching activities is currently in the field of social pharmacy. You must therefore have the academic qualifications required to teach social pharmacy at bachelor's degree level. The person appointed could be given teaching duties in any of OsloMet's study programmes.

We are looking for candidates who have

  • a relevant doctoral degree
  • the motivation to contribute to competitive research environments
  • an interest in educational development and student-active teaching activities
  • good oral and written English skills

If the candidate does not have the required skills in Norwegian or a Scandinavian language, he/she will be offered training to be able to carry out the tasks involved in the position and/or field of work.

It is an advantage if you also have

  • teaching and supervision experience at university level
  • knowledge and experience of pharmaceutical work
  • a national and international network in research and/or education
  • experience in obtaining research funding and/or innovation

The applicant's ability to build prolific and competitive research activities will be an important criterion during the assessment.

Importance will be attached to documented teaching qualifications and experience. If you do not have relevant teaching qualifications, you must undertake to complete the university's basic teaching qualification programme (15 credits) within two years.

The university will test teaching qualifications in connection with interviews.

General criteria for appointments to positions as associate professor are found in the Regulations for appointment and promotion to academic posts.

The salary for the position is in accordance with the pay scale for state employees, position code 1011, associate professor. The salary is NOK 524,200–682,200 per year. A higher salary may be considered for particularly well qualified applicants.
