The Faculty of Health Sciences consists of five departments and offers study programmes on all levels, including PhD. The faculty has about 6000 students and nearly 600 members of staff.

Department of Nursing and Health Promotion is located at all three campus: Kjeller, Pilestredet and Sandvika. The department has approximately 3000 students and 250 employees.

Would you like to help to develop public health nursing as a discipline and research field?

The Faculty of Health Sciences, the Department of Nursing and Health Promotion is looking for a candidate to take up a permanent position in the field of public health nursing. We are looking for someone who is able and willing to strengthen the discipline and education and research in this field. It will be relevant to cooperate on studies and research run by other entities at the faculty.

The Public Health Nursing Education programme is a popular further education programme (60 credits) which can be recognised as the first year of the Master's Programme in Nursing - Clinical Research and Professional Development. The faculty’s master’s portfolio will undergo major restructuring, and public health nursing will most likely become a separate programme option in a Master’s programme.

Main duties of the position

  • contributing to the development of the department’s research and academic activities
  • conducting research in the field of public health nursing
  • planning and developing the study programmes
  • teaching, supervising, assessing and grading at different levels
  • further developing national and international Collaboration

Applicants must have:

  • a doctoral degree in public health nursing or other relevant field
  • approved public health nursing education or equivalent
  • national and international research networks
  • teaching and supervision experience at university level
  • clinical experience as a public health nurse
  • good oral and written skills in Norwegian or other Scandinavian Language

It is an advantage if you also have

  • a strong international research profile in recognised journals in the field
  • the potential to attract external research funding

Importance will be attached to documented teaching qualifications and experience. If you do not have relevant teaching qualifications, you must undertake to complete the university's basic teaching qualification programme (15 credits) within two years.

OsloMet will test teaching qualifications in connection with interviews.

General criteria for appointments to positions as associate professor are found in the Regulations for appointment and promotion to academic posts.

It is important that you can demonstrate your motivation and suitability for the position by your resourcefulness, knowledge and ability to find constructive solutions. You must be able to work well alone and with others and be willing to get involved in academic and educational development work in your own field and at the university as a whole.

The salary for the position is in accordance with the pay scale for state employees, the position code and job title. The salary is NOK 524,200–682,200 per year. A higher salary may be considered for particularly well-qualified applicants.
