OsloMet is working to develop one of Norway’s best nursing education programmes and a leading expert environment in the field of nursing.

The Department of Nursing and Health Promotion at the Faculty of Health Sciences has vacancies for five new full-time permanent associate professor positions affiliated to the field of skills training and simulation to strengthen research and education in this area.

We are looking for someone who is ambitious on their students’ behalf, who enjoys teaching, supervision and research, and who is prepared to use various digital learning resources.

Extensive research activity is conducted at the department, which has seven research groups, and we regularly hire research fellows. As an associate professor, 35% of your position will be dedicated research time.

If no applicants with associate professor qualifications apply, an applicant may be appointed to a temporary position as an assistant professor on the condition that he/she qualifies for a associate professor position within three years. A qualification plan must be enclosed with the application.

Main duties of the position

• teaching and supervising students taking bachelor’s and master’s degrees
• developing student-active learning methods and participating in digital dissemination and communication
• planning, teaching and supervising students in skills training and simulation
• initiating and developing new models for skills training and simulation including in cooperation with the field of practice
• R&D activities, and publishing and disseminating research results
• supervision and assessment of students in practical training
• grading and development of assessment forms
• contributing to the development of the department’s academic activities

You may also be asked to teach and supervise in other relevant subject areas at the department.

We are looking for candidates who have 

• relevant higher education at associate professor level
• relevant master's and bachelor's degrees
• relevant expertise and/or experience of skills training and simulation
• relevant and recent clinical experience
• good oral and written English skills

If the candidate does not have the required skills in Norwegian or a Scandinavian language, he/she will be offered training to be able to carry out the tasks involved in the position and/or field of work.

It is an advantage if you have

• experience of research activity and publication, and can refer to a professional research network
• experience of teaching and supervision at university/university college level
• experience of digital learning platforms and digital teaching methods

Importance will be attached to documented teaching qualifications and experience. If you do not have relevant teaching qualifications, you must undertake to complete the university's basic teaching qualification programme (15 credits) within two years.

OsloMet will test teaching qualifications in connection with interviews.

The salary for the position is in accordance with the pay scale for state employees, code 1011 (førsteamanuensis) / 1098 (førstelektor). The salary is NOK 524,200–682,200 per year. A higher salary may be considered for particularly well-qualified applicants.
