The Faculty of Health Sciences is looking for a new member of staff for a full-time, three-year position as professor/associate professor to develop and lead a new practice-based research initiative at the faculty.

The work will primarily consist of developing and coordinating the work on the bridge-builder school. The bridge-builder school will be partly a research school and partly an educational forum for 7 to 10 clinical research fellows. The research school is intended to supplement research education at the faculty and shall create competence in needs-based research among the researchers and the research fellows at OsloMet and the field of practice. The bridge-builder school will be developed in close collaboration with international experts in the methods developed by James Lind Alliance (JLA) in the UK. The work on developing and leading the bridge-builder school will take place in collaboration with the faculty's vice deans for education and research respectively, the Faculty of Social Sciences, international experts in the JLA method, the faculty's research environment and practical training representatives.

There will be time to conduct own research as part of the position. There is extensive research activity at the Faculty of Health Sciences, with 17 research groups covering a large thematic and methodological breadth in health research.

We are now hiring several clinical research fellows who can build bridges between OsloMet and the field of practice in the municipal health service and hospitals. The positions will break down as 60% work on a PhD project and 40% work on the development of good learning arenas for the university’s students in the field of practice. The research fellows will be employed for a five-year period at the Faculty of Health Sciences, but will have both the university (60% research) and the field of practice (40% development of practice) as their place of work. For the research part of the position, the research fellows will be affiliated to an academic community and research group at OsloMet, from which they will also receive supervision. It is also desirable that the candidates have a connection to a research environment in the field of practice. The research project shall be based on the field of practice and take an issue seen as relevant by both professionals and patients as its point of departure. There is a requirement that the project be based on principles for needs-based research inspired by the James Lind Alliance (JLA).

In the practice-based part of their positions, the candidates will develop new models for practice, assist in teaching and supervising the practical training supervisors, supporting professional development, such as knowledge-based practice and patient safety and serving as bridge-builders between the educational and professional fields.

We are looking for candidates who have

• professor/associate professor qualifications in relevant subject areas
• experience of leading complex projects
• good oral and written English skills

When relevant, Norwegian language classes will be offered to comply with the requirements of the position.

You must have an interest in practical training as a learning arena within the health subjects and be interested in user involvement and needs-based research.

It is an advantage if you also have

• experience from research schools
• teaching experience
• experience in needs-identified research

Importance will be attached to documented teaching qualifications and experience.

OsloMet will test teaching qualifications in connection with interviews.

The salary for the position is in accordance with the pay scale for state employees, position code 1013, professor NOK 695,500 – 893,900 per year, or associate professor 1011, NOK 524,200 – 682,200 per year. A higher salary may be considered for particularly well-qualified applicants.
