Oslo Metropolitan University is Norway's third largest university with almost 22,000 students and over 2,500 employees. We have campuses in central Oslo and at Romerike. OsloMet educates students and conducts research that contributes to the sustainability of the Norwegian welfare state and the metropolitan region.

Faculty of Social Sciences offers study programmes within archivistics, library and information science, journalism and media studies, social work, social policy and child welfare, public management and business.

The faculty has about 4200 students and nearly 280 members of staff.

Oslo Business School has approximately 1700 students and 70 employees and offers study programmes both at Bachelor and Master level, as well as a wide range of continuing and further education.

The Faculty of Social Sciences, Oslo Business School, is looking for a new member of staff in political science / public policy and administration in a full-time position from 1 August 2019. We offer teaching and research on organisation, management and reforms in the public sector, political processes and policy instruments, and governance. Main duties of the position

  • teaching and research
  • theoretical and practical supervision of students
  • academic-administrative tasks

The person appointed will be obliged to participate in the department's activities related to research, teaching, dissemination and administration at both bachelor’s and master’s degree levels.

Qualifications

Applicants must have:

  • a PhD in political science / public policy and administration or similar
  • research experience in the field of political science / public policy and administration
  • good knowledge of Norwegian/Nordic public administration
  • good oral and written communication skills in a Scandinavian language and English
  • relevant teaching experience and qualifications
  • good cooperation skills

Emphasis will be placed on documented research publications in recognised journals.

Candidates who have no relevant qualifications in pedagogy at the time of appointment must commit themselves to complete OsloMet’s programme for basic pedagogical competence (15 ECTS credits) within two years.

OsloMet will test the applicants' teaching qualifications with a trial lecture in connection with interviews.

  • up to seven scholarly works from the past 5 years, including the PhD thesis.

The salary for the position is in accordance with the pay scale for state employees, position code 1011, associate professor. The salary is NOK 524,200–682,200 per year. A higher salary may be considered for particularly well-qualified applicants.
