The Faculty of Health Sciences consists of five departments and offers study programmes on all levels, including PhD. The faculty has about 6000 students and nearly 600 members of staff.

Department of Nursing and Health Promotion is located at all three campus: Kjeller, Pilestredet and Sandvika. The department has approximately 3000 students and 250 employees.

The Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing and Health Promotion, has a vacancy for a permanent position as an associate professor. The temporary position is for a period of one year. The position is vacant from 1 February 2019.

If no applicants with professor or associate professor qualifications apply, applicants may be appointed to a temporary position as an assistant professor.

We are looking for a suitable candidate to contribute to strengthening research and the academic community related to nursing and international activity. We are looking for a colleague who will contribute to providing quality education in cooperation with students, colleagues and the field of practice. As a team worker, you will actively contribute to the development towards a digital university. You will be assigned co-responsibility for strengthening and coordinating our international network, and work in line with the faculty’s strategy regarding quality, robustness, and social relevance in study programmes and relevant research.

Extensive research activity is conducted at the department, and several research groups have been established. The Faculty of Health Sciences has two PhD programmes, one in behavioural analysis and one in health sciences.

The position is primarily linked to the Advanced Education in Cancer Nursing, but tasks at the bachelor and master's degree level may also be relevant. The candidates must also expect some travel.

Main duties of the position

  • education-related tasks
  • R&D activities, publication and disseminating research results relevant to the field (not applicable to the position of assistant professor)
  • contact with the field of practice and supervision of students in clinical training
  • contributing to the development of the field of study and the department’s international activity

You will be working in a team and cooperating with the international coordinator.

We are looking for candidates who have

  • education in health sciences relevant to cancer nursing, preferably at PhD level
  • relevant clinical practice, preferably in cancer nursing
  • experience of educational work at university college and university level
  • clinical experience from international health care work
  • experience of digital forms of teaching
  • good oral and written communication skills in a Scandinavian language and English

  

If the candidate does not have the required skills in Norwegian or a Scandinavian language, he/she will be offered training to be able to carry out the tasks involved in the position and/or field of work.

 It is an advantage if you also have

  • experience of applying for funding for development and/or aid projects
  • experience and results obtained from international research cooperation
  • documented teaching qualifications and experience
  • experience from aid work
  • knowledge of the programme descriptions for the Advanced Education in Cancer Nursing
  • knowledge of programme description work 

OsloMet will test teaching qualifications in connection with interviews.

The salary for the position is in accordance with the pay scale for state employees: 1011 associate professor (førsteamanuensis) /1198 associate professor (førstelektor) NOK 517,700–650,200, or 1008 assistant professor (universitetslektor) NOK 436,900–579,300. A higher salary may be considered for particularly well-qualified applicants.
