Professor – Mathematics Education - Hiring in process/Finished, not possible to apply

A permanent position as Professor in the field of Mathematics Education at The Department of Primary and Secondary Teacher Education at the Faculty of Education and International Studies is available from 01.08.19. Read more about the faculty and the department here.

Main duties:

• Initiate and implement research- and development projects.
• Initiate new research projects and apply for external funding together with colleges in the department.
• Facilitate research collaboration with national and international partners.
• Take a central role in developing the programs in the department.
• Teach and supervise bachelor, master and Ph.D. students, and follow up students in practice periods.
• Fulfill administrative duties.

Teacher education and professional research and development work are central to the profile of the Faculty. It is important that the successful applicant is willing to orient research projects toward topics specifically relevant to the teaching profession.

Qualifications:

• Professor-level qualifications in Mathematics Education
• Documented pedagogical competence and experience. Candidates who have no relevant qualifications in pedagogy at the time of appointment must commit to completing the program for basic pedagogical competence (15 ECTS credits) at OsloMet within two years.

In the assessment and ranking of qualified applicants, emphasis will be placed on:

• Extensive work with research- and development that are relevant for the position. Publications from the resent six years will be emphasized.
• Experience with research networks and leadership of projects with external funding
• Experience with teaching and supervising on bachelor, master and Ph.D. levels
• Pedagogical competence
• Experience from professional leadership
• Good ICT competence
• Ability to communicate and collaborate with students and colleagues
• Personal qualities that can be positive to the working environment in the department
• Good oral and written skills in a Scandinavian language and English. Applicants who do not have one of the Scandinavian languages as their mother tongue must document both oral and written language skills. Applicants that do not fulfil this qualification, must dedicate them self to learning a Scandinavian language within two years after appointment.

The general criteria for appointment in a position as professor are stipulated in regulations relating to Appointment and Promotion to Teaching and Research Positions (Forskrift om ansettelse og opprykk i undervisnings- og forskerstillinger), § 1-2.

Foreign diplomas must be translated into English by the degree-conferring institution. Education taken abroad should preferably be recognised in advance by NOKUT, and a confirmed copy of the letter of recognition should be enclosed. Original documents and valid passport must be presented if you are invited for an interview. You will as an applicant be evaluated by an expert committee. Before the expert committee receives access to the applications, the faculty will withdraw applicants that does not fulfil the qualifications for the position.

Other information:

The salary for the position is in accordance with the pay scale for Norwegian state employees, job titel Professor and position code 1013/1532. Salary NOK 695 500-893 900 annually. A higher salary may be offered to particularly well qualified applicants. 2 % og the salary is deducted by law and goes to the Norwegian State Pension Fund.
