The Faculty of Health Sciences consists of five departments and offers study programmes on all levels, including PhD. The faculty has about 6000 students and nearly 600 members of staff.

Department of Nursing and Health Promotion is located at all three campus: Kjeller, Pilestredet and Sandvika. The department has approximately 3000 students and 250 employees.

We are looking for an inspiring and development-oriented leader with broad expertise and good insight into the education and research sector.

The Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing and Health Promotion, is looking for a new head of studies. The head of studies will lead the department’s Advanced Programme in Public Health Nursing and the Master's Programme in Midwifery.

The head of studies will be appointed for a fixed term of four years, with the possibility of applying for a further two terms. The position is vacant from 1 March 2019.

The department has approx. 3,000 students and 250 employees, who are currently divided between nine programme coordinator areas of responsibility. The department has students on all three campuses, and some travel must therefore be expected. The department's bachelor degree programmes are in the process of developing new programme plans and the department's master’s portfolio will be revised during 2019.

The university has a clear focus on research. The department is one of the country's largest education and research environments in nursing, and several research groups have been established. The research group ‘Women and children's health’ is affiliated with the field of study.

The Faculty of Health Sciences has two PhD programmes.

Area of responsibility

As head of studies, you will have the academic and administrative responsibility for the programme coordinator's area of responsibility. This includes the responsibility for performance in research, education, and dissemination, in addition to responsibility for HSE, personnel and financial management. The programme coordinator will collaborate with the programme coordinators of the other areas of study regarding the allocation of personnel resources. The programme coordinator must also ensure a good and diverse working environment.

The head of studies forms part of the department's management group headed by the head of department.

We are looking for candidates who meet the following requirements:

  • relevant higher education at associate professor/professor level
  • expertise from and a sound understanding of the health service
  • management experience, preferably from the field of research and education, with verifiable results
  • experience and good understanding of financial management and personnel management
  • good oral and written skills in a Scandinavian language and English

Experience of international work is emphasised.

It is an advantage if you have:

  • formal management qualifications
  • an interest in developing digital resources
  • an interest in and a wish to contribute to a diverse working environment

The salary for the position is in accordance with the pay scale for state employees, position code 1473, head of studies, currently NOK 670,000–754,900 per year. A higher salary may be considered for particularly well-qualified applicants.
