The Faculty of Health Sciences consists of five departments and offers study programmes on all levels, including PhD. The faculty has about 6000 students and nearly 600 members of staff.

We are looking for an inspiring and forward-looking leader with broad competence and deep understanding of the field of biomedical laboratory sciences.

The Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Life Sciences and Health, is looking for a leader for the Biomedical Laboratory Sciences Programme and the Master Programme in Biomedicine, with pertaining research environment.

We are looking for a clear and development-oriented leader with broad competence and good insight into the field of biomedical laboratory sciences. The programme coordinator will be appointed for a fixed term of four years, with the possibility of applying for a further two terms. The position is vacant from mid-November 2018.

The department offers bachelor’s degree programmes in biomedical laboratory sciences, pharmacy, radiography and dental technology, a master’s degree programme in biomedicine and a number of further education programmes that are both specific to health sciences and interdisciplinary. The department has four programme coordinators: one for the biomedical laboratory sciences programme and the master programme in biomedicine, one for pharmacy, one for radiography and one for dental technology. The department has a focus on incorporating more student-activating forms of teaching and digitalisation. The Biomedical Laboratory Sciences Programme and the Master Programme in Biomedicine are located at the Pilestredet campus and staff around 35 employees. There are approx. 230 students affiliated to the programmes.

There are several research groups affiliated to the department with good research activity.

The Faculty of Health Sciences has two PhD programmes.

Area of responsibility

As programme coordinator, you will hold academic and administrative responsibility for the Biomedical Laboratory Sciences Programme and the Master Programme in Biomedicine. The position is also responsible for human resources and financial management. You will actively contribute to strategic work and the further development of the research environment in cooperation with the department’s other managerial employees.

The programme coordinator forms part of the department's management group lead by the head of department.

Some teaching and research tasks that fall within the scope of the programme coordinator's role may be added by agreement.

We are looking for candidates who meet the following requirements:

  • relevant higher education in the health field, preferably at associate professor/professor level
  • broad expertise, good understanding of biomedical laboratory sciences and the professional field in Norway
  • experience of human resources management
  • experience of teaching and research
  • good oral and written skills in a Scandinavian language and English


It is an advantage if you have:

  • experience of financial management
  • an interest in developing digital resources

The salary for the position is in accordance with the pay scale for state employees, position code 1473, Head of studies, currently NOK 670,000–754,900 per year. A higher salary may be considered for particularly well-qualified applicants.
