A PhD Position in INTEGRATE – research on coordinated services for pathways to work - Hiring in process/Finished, not possible to apply

OsloMet’s Centre for the Study of Professions offers a 3-year PhD position in the research project ‘Organizing for Outcome’ for a candidate with a relevant background in for example Sociology, Political Science, Public Administration, Organisation Science, Health Sciences, or Social Work.

The organizing of cooperation and collaboration across different professionals and service providing organizations has for long been on political as well as research agendas, especially in relation to disadvantaged citizens. Integrated services through network forms of organizations is seen as solution to increasingly fragmented healthcare and welfare services. This topic is addressed ‘Organizing for Outcome’ – O4O – funded by the Research Council of Norway.

The aim of the O4O project is to investigate the links between the organization of service delivery and employment outcomes among groups with complex service needs. The PhD project will be linked to O4O’s qualitative case study of the interplay of policy, governance, organization and professionalism in local services targeted at young NEETs (Not in Employment, Education or Training). In this case study, the PhD candidate will work together with senior researchers in the O4O project. The case study is designed to be comparable to a similar study in Sweden. This involves selection of cases (municipalities) and topics to be covered in the data collection. However, the PhD candidate is free to choose his/her own approach to the analysis and/or extend the data collection.

The O4O project and the PhD-project is part of the core research group INTEGRATE.  The research group develops research on how service integration in NAV and among collaborators enhances labour market inclusion among citizens with complex service needs. INTEGRATE involves researchers from OsloMet – Oslo Metropolitan University and Inland Norway University of applied Sciences (INN). In addition to senior researchers, INTEGRATE currently includes two postdoc positions and four PhD-positions. In addition, the international Expert Panel of INTEGRATE represents an opportunity to discuss the PhD project with internationally renowned researchers in this field.

The advertised PhD position will be located at the Centre for the Study of Professions – SPS, https://www.oslomet.no/en/about/sps . SPS, as well as INTEGRATE, has a multidisciplinary research profile and applies a plurality of research methods. Research themes concern Professional Ethics, Professional Knowledge and Expertise, Professions, Policy and Governance, Professional Careers, Labour Markets and Work Organizations. It is a requirement that the candidate is accepted by the PhD program Study of Professions.

Tasks and responsibilities:

 Conduct research on a subproject of relevance to the goal of Organizing for Outcome and the case study described above.

Qualification requirements:

• A masters degree (120 ETCS and at least a B is required) in a relevant field
• competence in qualitative methods
• good/excellent language skills in English and Norwegian (or other Scandinavian Languages)

Relevant research experience, academic publications and participation in international seminars/conferences are valued, but not required.

The position is remunerated in accordance with the Basic Collective Agreement for the Civil Service and OsloMets salary policy, 1017 PhD Candidate, with a salary of NOK 479.600 (annual). A higher salary may be considered for particularly well qualified applicants.
